Rockstar Likely to Stay with Take-Two

After rumors that Rockstar could part with its partner Take-Two when their contract expires early in 2009, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey says they're likely to stay together:

We find it unlikely that the Houser brothers would leave Take-Two Interactive for a competitor, as loyalty, compensation, culture and compelling IP should be sufficient in aggregate to leave employment alternatives unappealing.

Rockstar, though, is a very hot company at the moment and it's doubtless that a number of publishers would go quite a distance to secure exclusivity with them.

Gamasutra notes that newly-formed Activision Blizzard could be a potential suitor, with CEO Bobby Kotick quoted as saying that the company has "definitely become the destination location for independently minded entrepreneurial talent."
